If you think business meetings have to be stiff and boring, you’ve clearly never held one at Huffman Manor Inn in Minden, Louisiana. We just wrapped up the most unexpectedly fabulous business meeting of all time—and yes, that sentence includes the word fabulous on purpose. From the moment we arrived, we knew this wasn’t your typical cookie-cutter hotel experience. Jack and Mel, our hosts, made us feel more like CEOs on retreat than road warriors in a conference room. Breakfast? Cooked to order and served hot while we kicked off our morning strategy session. And forget huddling around someone’s laptop—we were treated to a full TV setup and a massive projector screen that made my presentation look like the Apple Keynote. As for the rooms? I stayed in one of the king suites, which came with an oversized executive desk that made me feel like I was signing movie contracts instead of reviewing spreadsheets. The mix of historic charm and modern convenience gave the whole stay a “Downton Abbey meets Silicon Valley” vibe. This place is perfect for business travel—especially if you’re tired of plastic eggs, beige carpet, and fighting for a table near the outlet at some highway hotel chain. Huffman Manor Inn brings character, comfort, and some serious tech-savvy to the table. In short: If you’re a business traveler looking to upgrade from “blah” to “wow,” look no further. This is where productivity meets Southern hospitality—with a side of eggs just the way you like ’em. 10/10. Would hold a board meeting here again. Or a brunch. Or both.

My wife and I came to Minden looking for a quiet escape—and found so much more at Huffman Manor Inn. The charm of the house, the peaceful vibe, and the thoughtful touches helped us slow down, reconnect, and rekindle the spark in our marriage. It was exactly the low-key, romantic weekend we didn’t know we needed. We left feeling closer than ever. Can’t wait to come back. — Mitch Z.

“My Dog Got Treated Better Than Me (and I Loved It)” If you’re the kind of person who travels with your dog and immediately starts scanning the room for pet-friendly vibes—welcome to paradise. My pup Luna and I spent the weekend at Huffman Manor Inn, and let me tell you, neither of us wanted to leave. (She still thinks we live there.) From the moment we arrived, John and Melody rolled out the red carpet—not just for me, but for Luna. I was still unloading the car, and Melody was already down on one knee, handing Luna gourmet dog treats like she was royalty. I barely got a “hello” before Luna was being called a “good girl” and offered bottled water. Honestly? Fair. The house itself is stunning—historic charm, beautifully decorated, and squeaky clean (despite what Luna tried to do to the antique rug). But the real highlight? Breakfast. Oh. My. Stars. This was not your average hotel waffle bar. We’re talking farm-to-table, made-from-scratch, breakfast-feast-of-your-dreams. Eggs? Fresh. Bacon? Crispy perfection. Biscuits? The kind your grandma made when she still had upper body strength. John even made sure there was a little something for Luna, who sat politely beside me like the dainty lady she pretends to be when food is involved. They didn’t just “allow” dogs here—they embraced her like family. I half-expected her to get her own room key and a robe. Between the peaceful setting, the lovingly restored inn, and the warm, Southern hospitality, I left Huffman Manor Inn feeling rested, spoiled, and genuinely cared for. Luna, on the other hand, left wondering why she can’t get farm-fresh eggs every morning and why no one else calls her “Princess Pup.” We’ll definitely be back. And if Luna has her way, we’ll be moving in. Five stars, two paws up, and one very full belly.
